CAs from other Provinces (and Bermuda)

CA members of other Canadian provincial institutes (or the Bermuda institute) who are seeking to join the ICABC may make application to the registrar on the form provided below. Upon confirmation of good standing from your home institute, you will be admitted as a member of the BC Institute.

Note: CA members from other provinces who want to work in BC and refer to themselves as "CAs" must join the BC Institute. This rule applies even for those working in industry.

Application for Admission by Affiliation

Alberta Applicants

On April 1, 2009, the Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) came into effect between British Columbia and Alberta.  The TILMA provides for labour mobility for certified workers in good standing in occupations that are regulated in both provinces.

Under the TILMA, upon application, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC will recognize any Chartered Accountant in good standing from the Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants as qualified to practice as a Chartered Accountant in BC.

The application requirements for an Alberta Chartered Accountant coming to BC are:

A Chartered Accountant with conditions or restrictions on his or her certification may not be eligible for labour mobility (e.g. honorary members, students, associate members, etc.) under the TILMA.  If you are unsure whether your Alberta Chartered Accountant qualification meets the criteria for labour mobility under the TILMA, please contact Stephanie Langley, B.Sc., Registrar, at langley@ica.bc.ca.
