Benevolent Fund

A friend in need is a friend indeed. The Benevolent Fund of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia has taken that old adage to heart. Established in 1935, the Fund provides short-term assistance to members and their families suffering from unusual financial hardship.

The Fund's trustees administer the Fund and are appointed by Council. The Fund itself operates as a tax-exempt body under the Income Tax Act. Donations can be sent to the Institute to the attention of Amy Lam, CA, Secretary for the Benevolent Fund. Tax receipts will be issued.

“To apply for assistance, contact any one of the Fund’s trustees,” Amy says. “All information is held in the strictest confidence. Usually, a trustee acts as liaison to the applicant and continues to work with the individual member if the Board accepts the member’s application.

The Fund’s trustees include Harry Beattie, CA (Vice-Chair); Thomas Cheung, CA; Janet Flowers, CA; James Gilchrist, CA; Rosanne Terhart, CA; Russell Wilson, CA (Chair); Cecilia W.S. Wong, CA.

All information is kept in the strictest confidence.
