Kamloops CA Honoured for Community Service FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE VANCOUVER – Kamloops chartered accountant Norm Daley, CA has been selected to receive a Community Service Award by the Chartered Accountants of British Columbia. The award recognizes chartered accountants for their outstanding contributions to the community and to volunteer organizations. Daley has been an active volunteer since he first earned his CA designation in BC in 1989. A partner with Becker Daley LLP Chartered Accountants in Kamloops, he has volunteered with a variety of organizations, with a focus on those involving sport. In his current role, Daley serves on the Board of Directors of the Strauss Canada Cup of Curling as past- president, on the Board of Directors of the WHL Kamloops Blazers, and as a volunteer with the Association Francophone de Kamloops. “Norm's commitment to the community of Kamloops is deserving of recognition,” said Richard Rees, FCA, CEO of the Chartered Accountants of BC. Daley has previously served as a member of the Kamloops Society for Sports Excellence; event chair of the Safeway Select, Provincial Men's Curling Championships; president of the Ford World Men's and Women's Curling Championship; coach with the Kamloops Minor Baseball Association; media chair, World Junior Hockey Championships; founder and chair, Strauss Canada Cup of Curling; and treasurer of the Labatt Brier. In 1998, Daley was recognized as the Kamloops Sports Council Sportsperson of the Year. Other Community Service Award recipients are R. The Community Service Awards are open to members of the Chartered Accountants of BC and recipients must be nominated by other members or community organizations. Award recipients receive a commemorative native moon desk box. The awards will be presented on June 21, 2006, and the Institute's annual Member Recognition Dinner.
