About Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

The CPD information on this website applies to both ICABC (British Columbia) and ICAYK (Yukon) members.

Continuing Professional Development is the ongoing program of learning, which empowers members to use the most current information to provide high quality service in their professional roles. In order to maintain public trust, and to uphold the reputation of the CA designation, all members must constantly update their professional knowledge.

Effective January 1, 2008, the mandatory CPD requirements for all members of the ICABC were aligned with the International Federation of Accountants’ (IFAC) CPD standards. As all of the provincial CA institutes across Canada have also adopted the IFAC standards, this brings greater harmonization to the CPD requirements for all CAs across Canada and their counterparts around the world.
